The Community Garden of Lakes Park…DIG IT! A lot of people do.

of South West Florida Parent and Child about the garden.
The Lakes Park Enrichment Foundation, in association with
Lee County Parks and Recreation, is proud to announce the
inception of the Community Garden of Lakes Park, which is the
first phase of the Lakes Park Botanic Garden. The Community
Garden is comprised of sixty-nine (69), 4’ x 8’ raised garden beds
in a delightful sunburst arrangement.
For a $50 annual rental, with all proceeds benefiting the Lakes Park Enrichment
Foundation and being re-invested back into Lakes Park, these beds will be
available to “Local-Vores”, a.k.a. community
citizens wishing to cultivate produce or
flowering species within the
Community Garden of Lakes Park. This progressive concept
is an effort to revive
the practice of growing produce and planting close to home.
Each Community Gardener will be required to sign an agreement, to uphold the regulations of the Community Garden, namely restrictions on the use of pesticides and fertilizers, pledge to maintain the Community Garden plot and attend quarterly a meeting. Gardeners will supply their own tools and plants. Extension Agent Roy Beckford will be
offering a variety of courses in best practices for good yields from the garden plots.
Electronic Registration is on a first come-first serve basis. Click on the Reserve a Bed link above to secure your bed NOTE: All gardeners must agree to the Lakes Park Community Garden Rules and Regulations.
Patrons of Lakes Park, including Community Gardeners, are required to pay for parking.
Currently, parking fees are:
$1.00 per hour
$5.00 per day
$50.00 per year (which includes parking at most Lee County Parks)
